    Description

Real photograph postcard view of a street and buildings in Ashton, South Dakota, by O.C. Black & Co. of Soo Falls, postmarked 1915 (Ashton, S.D.).  The view, entitled #102, Main St., Ashton, S.D./Dog On Nice Town, shows a broad street lined on either side by a couple of dozen one and two story commercial buildings. The sign on the front of the nearest building at right reads Ashton State Bank. There’s an early automobile parked on the left side of the street, and a horse is tied up in front of a building down on the right side. A photograph of a dog is superimposed over the view. Ashton is a small town located in Spink County, toward the northeast corner of South Dakota. The postcard is in good condition with light wear and soiling. The photograph exhibits good or better tonal range and shows good or better detail. A nice early Ashton SD view!
